Seagate has recently announced Lenovo two issues affecting the firmware on certain Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 SATA hard drives. Families of two unit used by Lenovo desktop and Workstation branded systems. Seagate has described the two built-in queries in the following ways:
-A firmware issue that may result in data becoming available after a power-off/on.
-A firmware issue with write cache enabled and issuing the write, read, verify, and view commands in the same LBA range can cause a read command back old data.

Lenovo believes that the likelihood that a customer will see one of these two built-in queries is extremely low. That being said, Lenovo, and Seagate has decided to release the software.

It is recommended to always use the latest available version of the driver.
